Nike operatng segments include North America, Western Europe, Central & Eastern Europe, Greater China, Japan, and Emerging Markets. Nike’s target consumers are women, young athletes, and runners. Nike's products and services include NIKEID, Nike App, Nike Run App, and extended retail stores globally. Nike uses Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube as their platform to communicate with the customer and announce any new additon in the market. Nike competes with Adidas, ASICS, Li Ning, Lululemon Athletc, Puma, V.F. Corporaton and Under Armour. Nike Inc. was initally known as "Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS)" was founded by Phil Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman in 1964. Bill (the coach) made the first pair of shoes out of waffle iron for his student Phil, who meant to join summer Olympic and won two gold medals. BRS was in business with a Japanese company named "Onitsuka Tiger" to sell footwear shoes from 1964 – 1971. Nike was officially registered on June 18, 1971, under U.S Patent and Trademark Associaton. By 1980, Nike had gained 50% in US Athletc market share and went to public. Nike revenue for 2017 is 34,350 million, which is 6% higher than in 2016. Nike is one of the undisputed leaders in the sports industry in its 30 years profitable industry history.
