Post a description of the problem that you identified in your selected organization. Explain the problem from a closed-system perspective. Then, describe how the problem could be addressed by viewing it from an open-system perspective, and explain how this modification would help you and others improve health care outcomes.Main Question Post (Week 2)A main concern that is of importance at my facility is the nursing shortage. The facility has experienced an increase in nurse to patient ratio that has been related to the decline in staffing, and has consequently caused an increase in the workload and caregiver stress. I currently work on a geriatric psychiatry unit that houses up to 16 mental health patients age 50 and older. Usually when the facility is at a full capacity we are to have at least 4 nurses staffed and 2 nurse assistants per policy. However, with new changes of a decrease in staff members, we have been working very short with up to 8 patients each which puts the nurses and patients at an increased risk for error or accidents. These decisions have consequently caused problems amongst staff members, have caused more resignations, increased patient workloads, and have caused a decrease in staff morale.A closed system identifies the organization as a system that ideas are represented in one direction from the top down. A hospital organization allows the shortage of nurses to persist in a closed system. This is due partly because the topic of concern is either not addressed or not fully
