Lee, <p>As you know I am out of town attending my sister’s wedding. While I am gone you will take my position at Measurements Are Us, Inc. I know it seems to be a difficult position but with a little instruction you will do just fine. <p>There are a few key terms you must understand before you begin the task at hand. Your measurements must precise! This term precision is commonly confused with accuracy but holds different qualities within its meaning. Precision can be defined as “how closely individual measurements agree with each other.” Accuracy is comparable but refers to “how closely a measured value agrees with the correct value.” It is imperative that you use significant figures properly when making your measurements in order to maintain consistency of precision in your work. <p>When determining the number of significant figures for data that someone else has measured it is important to remember these general rules: 1. Non-zero digits are always significant. 2.
