TECHNOLOGY IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM 2 The criminal justice system comprises of different agencies, departments, and processes established by governments and charged with a responsibility of controlling crimes. They usually impose penalties on people found guilty of violating the laws. The criminal justice system is a comprehensive process comprising of many departments and processes. Most of these agencies and institutions are constitutional and executes their constitutional mandate. They use the state constitution to exercise its duties as well as ensuring that they minimize the rates crimes. Recently, with the technological advancements, there have been drastic changes in its approaches to executing duties. These new technology has been implemented in almost all its process. Firstly, in the law enforcement, the officers have been taking reports of crimes that happen in their areas using manual means. These officers investigate crimes, gather, and protect evidence. In execution of this responsibility, there have been challenges in identifying criminals. The introduction of new technology has enabled the use new approaches to investigating, gathering, and protecting evidence. The aim of this paper is to analyze the effects and importance of technology in the criminal justice system. The selection of this topic followed is overwhelming effects on the system. Further, it aims at expounding the knowledge that people have on the new approaches adopted by the system to enhance the execution of duties and responsibilities. It is clear that the technological revolution is sweeping across the world in all sectors. The broad sweep has not left the criminal justice system. As other sectors of private and public relations, the work of court systems, police agencies, correctional units, community groups and the other institutions that collectively constitute the issues and challenges of crime and justice have been caught up in the technological changes. The revolution is taking place drastically such that the breakthrough technologies of the past seem a commonplace in current society. The

Judges have begun to order electronic monitoring routinely as a condition of probation. In prisons, the administration health care is taking place without moving prisoners through a series of multiple telemedicine. Further, the community groups can assess the incidence of crime in their neighborhoods with sophisticated computerized crime maps.
