Over the years, the consumption of an high fat and high sugar diet in the United States has put the US as the number one most obese country in the world. Living in the United States comes with stress, sleep deprivation, and an excessive amount of workload compared to living in other countries. Main cause as to why America is considered obese. Many Americans are at times too busy or tired to have time to cook a meal at home and prefer to just get a quick bite at their local Mcdonald's. Fast food joints are open late, are quick, are cheap, and taste delicious no matter what they contain. At times many Americans are even too tired to go through a fast food drive-through and cook a meal at home. Leaving them snacking on potato chips, soda, cookies, and anything that is left in their fridge. Many have researched if fatty and sugary foods are addictive and if they can become as addictive as a schedule one drug. How can a burger or a pack of Oreo’s be as addictive as cocaine? Researchers Paul M. Johnson and Paul J. Kenny published a journal in a magazine called Nature Neurosciencethat shocked many Americans across the states. In their journal titled, Dopamine D2 receptors in addiction-like reward dysfunction and compulsive eating in obese rats, both Johnson and Kenny finally confirmed the horrible effects fats and sugars have on a human body and mind. It’s not just a physical effect it has on the human body but it’s a neurological effect as well. During their research they placed a group of rats on a diet that included bacon, chocolate, cheesecake, and sausages. Their studies showed that after time, the rats placed on the diet were showing signs of compulsiveness and addictiveness to their diet. Thesame signs a human with a cocaine problem shows. Kenny and Johnson proved that humans that intake a high fat diet do become addictive in eating so unhealthy due to the dopamine their brain releases while they eat. Their favorite fatty foods makes them feel good and happy. Dopamine isa neurotransmitter that releases the substance in the brain, that makes you feel euphoric while

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
