Xin Xu Professor Mc Queen ESL 33 B 8 Oct 2018 Love is enough A gift is a gift. Love is enough. Della had lost her long hair and could never use that beautiful set of comb again. Jim sold the gold watch, and the good white gold watch chain was out of use. Both of them gave up their most valuable things for the gift. Although neither of them did what they expected, the feelings represented by these two gifts were precious. From the beginning of ‘The Gift of The Magi,’ I learned that the family was not well off. When Mr. Young made 30 dollars a week, he lived a comfortable life. But since Mr. Young's salary dropped to 20 dollars a week, life has become so tight that Della is prepared to buy Jim a present for only 1.87 dollars. Despite the situation Della and Jim could still love each other so much. To buy gifts for each other, they both gave up their most precious things bitterly, which touched me deeply. Whether on TV, in novels, or in daily life, there are always some families like this and that. Although they are all rich, they have never had such feelings as Della and Jim.
