WEEK 3 LAB 2 Statistical sampling is when a study is conducted on a population to retrieve a sample from this group. The sample must be large enough to give significant results and yet small enough to be manageable. There are several types of sampling that are used but random sampling is the best way to get more accurate results, as each member of the population has an equal chance of being chosen for the study. Some difficulties that do arise are bias, which in some cases is due to the type of sampling used such as convenience or self-selection, or it could be the interview questions themselves which could contain loaded questions. Using critical thinking allows for the ability to analyze information that is obtained in the poll samples and to use that information to research even deeper to allow for a truthful and knowledgeable conclusion based on the answers we find. By using critical thinking to study, the claims given on these polls such as the total population who participated, the types of questions asked and the type of sampling used allows us to find a truthful conclusion on whether the poll is accurate.
