Lisa Patterson Questions age 8 years 11 months 1. How smart is your child, and in what areas? Think back to the blurb on multiple intelligences that appeared at age 6. Find specific evidence and document examples regarding your child's verbal, logical- mathematical, spatial, musical and bodily-kinesthetic intelligence from your observations of your child as well as the psychologist's report at age 8 years, 11 months. (Each area should be addressed, and examples from the Virtual Child program should be provided to receive full credit). At age 8 years and 11 months, Caspian’s scores were in the average to above average range in many categories, such as word reading, reading fluency, phonological awareness and spelling. This shows me that he has an above average reading rate for a child his age, and also average comprehension skills for a 8 year old. When Caspian took the verbal portion of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children he scored the following, Information- 13, Vocabulary- 14, Similarities- 13, and Comprehension- 15. When looking at these scores, 13 is one standard deviation above the mean, which in this case shows that Caspian scored above average in all of the verbal portions of this test. I’ve always known he was strong in this area, but in his first grade report card, it said that he “demonstrated strength” in speaking and listening areas as well as in reading an writing. Which just helps to reinforce Caspian’s skills. According to the Psychologist’s report, Caspian’s math scores were all in the average range. Caspian has been doing well in his 3 rd grade math class, but he doesn’t like math all that much. This is something my partner and I have been trying to work on with Caspian.
