Assessment Task 1: 1) Marketing objectives is about what a business wants to achieve from its marketing activities. They need to be consistent with overall aims and objectives of the business. They also provide an important focus for the marketing team. Marketing is “the process of identifying, anticipating (predicting) and satisfying customer needs profitably”. Marketing objectives therefore need to be consistent with the purpose of marketing. They also need to be consistent with and support the overall corporate (business) objectives. 2) SMART is an acronym that you can use to guide your goal setting. SMART means Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound. The purpose of setting SMART objectives is to clarify where you want to be, providing a measurable objective. It’s a tool that you can use to plan and achieve your goals. Specific: Any businesses should have a specific goal to accomplish. In order to do that they can use the five “W” questions. Such as: What do they want to accomplish?
