Analyzing World Cultures 2 Analyzing World Cultures For this project I chose to study the culture of Mumbai. To study this culture I watched a Bollywood movie called Baabul , directed by Ravi Chopra. The movie begins with a father and son reuniting in Mumbai after the son spends seven years studying in the United States. Balraj is excited to see his son Avi, and throws him a giant party to welcome him home. Avi and Balraj’s relationship is strong and they are very wealthy. In the film Avi meets a woman named Millie, who comes from a middle class family. After trying and trying to win her heart, Avi and Millie wed with a huge celebration. The two have a child and live a happy life until Avi is killed in a car accident. Millie lives the rest of her days in Balraj and his wife’s house, which is part of Mumbai culture. Balraj feels the immense pain Millie is going through and devises a plan to help her. He calls upon her friend Rajat to look after her and win her heart. Due to cultural beliefs, even though Millie and Rajat fall in love, they are unable to be together or get married. Balraj takes
