$ apt-get update To upgrade your version of Linux, enter this: $ apt upgrade

Then a prompt will be given to you to continue the installation of which you say yes to.

To install applications from the command line, in this instance wireshark, you would this: $ apt-get install wireshark Similar to the upgrade, you are prompted to continue the installation which you say yes to.
