2U.S CONGRESSCongress is made of two groups, The House of Representatives and The Senate. Though both groups work together to form Congress, they play different roles. The House of Representatives responds to the needs of the people faster while the Senate is slower and considers the long-term effects of laws. The Senate is made up of 100 seats and their term last six years. The House holds435 seats with terms lasting only two years. It is also based on the Virgin Plan. Meanwhile, the Senate is based on the New Jersey Plan. The leader of the Senate is the Vice President. The House of Representatives elects a Speaker of the House to be in charge. Both parties also have different roles in Congress. The House can propose to raise taxes. They can also determine if charges need to be brought against the official in an impeachment. A majority vote determines this. The Senate has the sole power of approval on foreign treaties, cabinet, and judicial nominations. In an impeachment, the Senate serves as the analytical body to determine if the charges are severe enough to remove the official from office. This vote needs to be 67/100. The
