Lupe checks on her mother quite a few times a week despite the fact that her mother is reasonably self-sufficient (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). Lupe formerly lived with the father of herchildren (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). However, he abandoned Lupe and the children because family life was overwhelming (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). Lupe considered them a married couple although they were never married (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). Lupe is recently out of work because of an accident where she now needs surgery (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015).
