A. Write a consultative change recommendation paper by doing the following: a. Identify the purpose of the consultation and provide a summary of the consultation process. The purpose of the consultation was to get information about the organization I have chosen to discuss and what role my interviewee, Anne Marie Savage, Director of Women and Children’s Services South Region with Intermountain Healthcare plays in this organization. To learn what this hospital systems mission and value are as a whole. This helped assess what role this health system plays in the community. It was also my goal to assess what responsibilities and opportunity Anne Marie has as a change agent for the organizational change I am exploring. By having this consult, I got a feel of what stakeholders Anne Marie works with closely and who she has access to to start discussing and planning this change. By discussing the organizational system, structure, policies, and day to day operations I could start to recognize some weaknesses and strengths of the organization that could be used in the proposal for an organizational change recommendation. I am specifically focusing on Utah Valley Regional Hospital Mother/Baby Unit within this hospital organization. b. Describe the organization. Intermountain Healthcare is the largest healthcare systems in the state of Utah. It was founded in Salt Lake City and has since spread throughout Utah and Idaho. It is a non-for-profit organization with 22 hospitals, 185 clinics, and employees approximately 1,500 physicians, and 37,000 employees.

Intermountain Healthcare has very strong missions, visions, and values that dominate all decisions that are made within the organizations. They hold their organization and its employees to these standards at all times. (intermountainhealthcare.org) In 2015 Intermountain as a whole had 502,000 Emergency Room visits, 137 acute patient admissions, 117,000 ambulatory surgeries, 40,000 inpatient surgeries, and 31,000 births (which is my area of interest). (intermountainhealthcare.org) Intermountain’s mission is “Helping people live the healthiest lives possible”. This is evident in the many areas where they help the community through education, services, and community activities that encourage their patients and employees to become part of. The sponsor many marathons and half marathons to benefit community organizations. They offer an extensive “LiVe Well” program for the employees that encourage, educate, and give them the tools needed to succeed in living healthy in many aspects of their life that help them live happy, secure, healthy, engaged, and connected. (intermountainhealthcare.org) Their vision is “to be a model health system by providing extraordinary care and superior service at an affordable cost.” This is evident in the amount of free or discounted service they provide to to the community each year.
