As he plots revenge tothose around him, he influences others to his deceitful ways, while his motives feed upon their suffering and anger.Bowman, Thomas D. “A Further Study in the Characterization and Motivation of Iago”. National Teachers of English Literature.JSTOR. Web. Vol, 4. No.8, May 1943, pg. 460-469.This article expresses the idea of Iago being a villain in English Literature. He is obsessedwith getting revenge on his peers with no significant motivation. This source also explores Iago’smotives and assertions to Othello, and Othello’s trust, but soon realizes that the betrayal of Roderigo does not change Othello’s even temper. Iago’s beliefs about women are also expressed in this article that they are good for nothing but childbearing and barmaiding, expressing his exposition of Emilia. This particular source is very supportive of my essay, because it gives supporting details about Iago and his motives to betray everyone.
