Scève and Labé have many similarities in their poetry writing styles. Both of these poets are obviously influenced by Petrarch, in that they describe the pain and suffering that an unrealized love can cause. They are also very similar in their approach to the object of their affection, the person who they are writing their poems to. They both use physical descriptions to intensify the feelings that they are describing. Scève describes the face of the woman that he loves, focusing on Pernette du Guillet’s eyes.
