Flannery O'Conner wrote a short story called "A Good Man is Hard to Find" This story was about how good faced evil in an ironic way as a family traveled South on vacation. The meaning of a "good" man and a "good" woman is mentioned on several occasions in this short story. O'Connor shows this theme of "good" through her foreshadowing and symbolism as well as using a creative repetition of her omniscient points of views (Kirszner & Mandell, 2017). Being a good man can be described as a man that you trust, a man who cares and protects their loved ones. A "good" man shows respect and honesty. A "good" man is typically raised with high morals and standards and knows right from wrong. These are the characteristics that I see in a "good" man. For example, the grandmother thought that Red Sammy at the Tower Barbecue was a "good" man because he allowed two mill workers charge their gas.
