Eli Quinn February 7, 2007 E 115 Section 105 Homework Two The first topic that I chose for homework two was 802.11n. In January 2004, IEEE announced that it had formed a new task group 802.11n (Wikipedia). These numbers are also known by the brand Wi-Fi (Wikipedia). Basically, 802.11n is a type of wireless local area network. The throughput on this wireless network is supposed to be able to reach 540 Mbit/s which would make it 50 times faster than 802.11b. This new task group will allow people around the world that use wireless connections reach faster speeds with their computers. But with these faster speeds it requires more money. People will have to buy faster components of the computer to support the higher speeds. This shouldn’t be too big of problem knowing the technology that is available today. In conclusion, 802.11n is a step forward in the wireless world. Next, I chose flash/ solid-state memory. Flash memory is a form of computer memory that can be electrically erased and reprogrammed (Wikipedia). This technology
