Origins Reflection
1.
Briefly explain the Genesis account of creation (first two chapters). The point is not to
retell all aspects of the story in detail but just to make the message of the Bible clear.
In the first three chapters of Genesis, it is clear that the message being portrayed is that God
is the creator of the Universe. It took him six days to create the Universe and on the seventh
day (Sabbath) He blessed this day to be Holy and rested from the work of his creations. To
help take care of his beautiful garden of Eden, God created a man (Adam) and later a woman
(Eve) from the man’s rib to help him look after it as well (Lietha). Adam and Eve are naked
at first and this was a symbol of purity in the eyes of God. As the children of God. Gods
providence in his creations is to give humans the awareness of responsibilities to look after
all that He has created. He shows us love by teaching us the values of being held accountable
for our responsibilities, the effects of disobedience and the purpose of marriage and family.
God is always forgiving and if we are to disobey his guidelines and creations he allows us to
face our consequences to learn and grow from them because he loves us. The creation of the
universe was through all the love God has and he gives us endless amounts of unconditional
love. We are his creations and He will never leave our side even if we disobey Him and his
teachings. The overall message that comes from these two chapters is that God is Love and
He created the Universe (Diffey,
Wisdom in the Beginning
). Through his creations He has
guidelines set up for us to follow but even if we mess up God will show us love through the
consequences He will make us face.

Explain and support your interpretation of the origin of the universe. Here you may want
to address evolution, age of the earth, and whether or not it can be reconciled with the
message of the Bible.
My interpretation of the origin of the universe is that God made and created all things in life.
Some skeptics believe in the Big Bang Theory of the creation of the world. Being that I am a
science major, some would expect me to ditch my beliefs of God creating our world and leave it
all to science. The big bang theory suggest that the world started out as, “a small singularity, then
inflated over the next 13.8 billion years to the cosmos that we know today,” (Howell, 2017).
However, if this is the case how do scientist explain how animals and human beings came to be.
Scientist only have are mathematical formulas and models to prove the Big Bang Theory is what
created the universe. In the Bible in the first three chapter of Genesis it tells the whole story. In
the Bible in the book of Genesis chapter 1 states, “God created mankind in his own image, in the
image of God he created them; male and female he created them,” (Genesis 1, n.d.). God started
evolution when he created mankind, it was the start of a new beginning. According to the
