You startedwith the first steps of the scientific method – observation, question, hypothesis, prediction, and rationale. You then collected your data. The nextsteps in the scientific method are to summarize/analyze your data, interpretthem, and make a conclusion based on your hypothesis (i.e., determinewhether your hypothesis was supported by your data or not). You will dothese steps today in your group from lab 2a and present your findings toyour classmates.
Your worksheet with your group’s hypothesis, etc., as well as yourgroup’s raw data from lab 2a will be returned to you. You will spend the firstpart of today’s lab summarizing and interpreting your data and developing apresentation to deliver to your classmates in the latter half of the lab period. When you receive your raw data you should think as a group abouthow to best summarize your data. Some things to consider are:Should you present the raw data or some summarized value, such asmeans?Do you need to convert your species counts into native vs non-nativespecies before you summarize your data? How do you treat data that are collected at different distances alongyour transect?Once you have decided how you will summarize your data, you will needto decide how to present it. You should consider your hypothesis andprediction and determine whether you should, for example, present yourdata in a bar plot comparing habitats, or perhaps as a line graph looking at
