CLINICAL 2 Clinical Field Experience C: Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan Part 1: Social Studies Mini-Lesson Plan Social studies standard: Kansas Standards for History, Government, and Social Studies Standard 2: Individuals have rights and responsibilities. Arts standard: VA:Cn10.1.2: Create works of art about events in home, school, or community life. Grade level: 2 nd grade Learning objective: Students will be able to discuss and explain the important role of laws and rules in communities. 1-2 learning objectives: Students will define what a law is. Students will be able to describe how laws can be different and the same depending on where it is applied. Instructional strategy: Introduction: Students will work together as a large group to define what a law is. I will explain to them that a law is a rule that tells how people should act in the community. Laws are created to keep people safe and allow for all people to receive fair treatment. I will write down the definition that the group comes up with for what a law is. Teacher Modeling: Next, students will tell what types of groups that they are members of. Examples of different groups may be a school community, a city, their family, a church member, etc.
