CLINICAL 2 Clinical Field Experience A: Social Studies Observation Part 1: Observation Grade Level: 2 nd grade Description of Social Studies Lesson: Students are learning about goods and services. The teacher held up a candy bar to the front the class and says that she will trade it to someone for what they have. Students gave suggestions on what they would trade to be able to get the candy bar. Next, she told students she would give the candy bar to someone if they performed a service (a job). Students gave ideas o did an activity that required them to draw a good that they were willing to trade with someone else. Next, they went up to different classmates trying to find someone to make a deal with. If the student was able to trade their original item, they could choose to trade their new item with a different classmate if they wanted. Next, the teacher had the students think of services that they could do. Then students went to each other trying to offer their services for a service that the other classmate offered. If they found a classmate who was willing to provide their service for the service of the other classmate, the students would say, “you have a deal.” Describe the environment: Warm and inviting? Cold and
strict?
