Research AssignmentBristin WhitleyJuly 31, 2018In my observations of the 6-11 year olds I observed a group of children at a soccer clinicwith defined social statuses. In just the two hours, I watched the relationships change and withthat, the self esteem of the children. The boys and the girls defined their status by differentmeans of social behavior. Humor and prosocial behavior were key to where the child was rankedamong their peers. From the text, peers become more accepted if they have high social cognition. Iespecially recognized this with the girls in the group, that behaving in the right manner willincrease your popularity. I think this was also very evident in this group because of the numberof girls. There was a distinct leader of the girls and agreeable to the book, she demonstrated thehighest level of prosocial behavior with her peers. She led confidently and socializedappropriately. She was talkative with her peers and listened to her friends and respondedappropriately.
