Alvin L. Johnson NUR 6051N Initial Post Understanding Workflow Design In any organization there will be areas of concern as it relates to the production of work within the facility. There will always be areas that may need improvement. To be able to do this, there must be an understanding of how everything is operating or should operate. This begins with and understanding of workflow. Workflow is defined as task that are physical or mental and is performed by many people within or between work environments and are perfomed sequentially and can occur on several levels DHHS). There are several redesign tools that can be used to improve workflow. These tools are provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) within the Workflow Assessmen for Health IT Toolkit. The three concepts I have chose are Usability, Flowchart, and Interview. In the healthcare industry there are various ways to enhance the safety and the quality of care provided to the each patient within any facility.
