THE OKLAHOMA CITY BOMBING
2
A Morning Like No Other
Oklahoma City 1995, a normally quiet city until 9:02 A.M. on April 19
th
. When the entire
city was woken to tragedy. When many, when most, of the U.S. thank of terrorist they picture
foreigners from other countries. Other men and women who want to attach and bring tragedy to
the American way of life. No one in the 1900’s believed one of our own, a former solider of the
U.S Army, an American, would commit the deadliest terrorist attack to ever happen on American
soil. On that early morning a Rider box truck drove up 5
th
street and parked at the front entrance
of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The driver then stepped out and left he truck
unattended. Where hundreds of U.S. government and civil employees were just starting their day.
Hundreds of federal officers from U.S. marshals, FBI, DEA, special agents and ATF where just
sitting down to work on endless amounts of cases to help keep our country safe. Those that will
never ever be forgotten, those who lives where cut to short, who were just dropped off to settle in
for the day with countless games to be played were 19 young children who had no clue about
hate and violence. At 9:02 A.M. the bomb made a fertilizer and nitrate went off killing 168 men,
women, and children. It also injured 680 people. Over 16 blocks of structures, cars, and roads
were damaged. The Murrah Building was blown completely up and came crashing down. With
another 324 buildings damaged, with an estimate of $652,000.000 in damage. Of all the
buildings and millions of dollars the only thing that matters is a man taken 168 lives away from
American because of hate.
