Contrast of Extension - Color Proportions & Placement Color Harmonies – “musical consonance, combination of tones into a chord, a triad; the progression & modulation of chords” Color Harmony by Itten – Balance and symmetry of force Red, Green = Red (Yellow + Blue) Blue, Orange = Blue (Yellow + Red) Yellow, Violet = Yellow (Red + Blue) Color Harmonies - Monochromatic – using a single color, white or black is added to create different values - Analogous – 3 different colors next to each other - Complementary – 2 colors opposite of each other on color wheel - Split Complementary – 3 different colors ex : yellowgreen +bluegreen + red - Triad – 3 different colors placed an equal distance from each other ex : yellow, red, blue green, orange, violet
