History/Philosophy 260 Fall 2016 ESSAY ASSIGNMENT Please find below a list of suggested term paper topics. You may choose one of them, or you may devise an original topic of your own in consultation with one of the course instructors. You are required to register your chosen topic with your tutorial instructor by Thursday March 15. If you wish to devise your own topic, please allow for time for consultation to develop the question into acceptable form. Keep in mind a few very general guidelines. If you choose a historical topic, consult with at least one instructor on good sources. With either a historical or philosophical argument, remember to make a convincing argument, using evidence and/or reasoned exposition to compel your reader’s agreement. Seek help from an instructor if you need it. Make sure all of the work is your own. Include references for all words and ideas of others. If in doubt about what constitutes plagiarism, please consult the policies in the course outline, or the sources referred to there.
