Video and Response #1 “Young people grasp that the purpose of school is not to provide an education but to stimulate a thirst for learning, and to give it life beyond the school gate” - John MacBeath An effective education in not based on retention rates, teacher qualification, or standardized test scores. It’s not based on having your students read textbooks or trying to fill up their minds with information so they can pass their tests. An effective education is a growth of your student’s personalities and understanding. It’s when you use education to advance children as a whole and encourage then to be independent thinkers who are productive members of society. “A child’s mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” Knowing this a school should be there to provide and nurturing environment that enhances students’ growth.
