I.) Our study was to determine whether NIU upper-classmen and lower-classmen responded differently to the question: “Is freedom of the press protecting the public’s right to know, but not the privacy rights of individuals such as those in the entertainment industry (actors, actresses, sports stars, etc.)?” We tested the null hypothesis: There is no significant difference between upper-classmen and lower-classmen in their response to the question above. The alternative hypothesis is: There is a significant difference between upper-classmen and lower-classmen in their response to the question above. II.) In the collection of my sample, I asked NIU students on my dorm floor. I let them read the question, and then had them answer yes, no, or no response. I then recorded their answer based on whether they were a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior.
