Unformatted text preview: ME 307 LAB 6: STRESS CONCENTRATIONS. Due March 27, ‘08 You may work on this assignment in pairs and hand in one copy per pair. You need to hand in two plots, clearly labeled and showing the appropriate points on the plots as asked below. I. Rubber Sheet i. Plot the longitudinal strain distribution across the sheet between the two notches based on the gage length of a) 2cm b) 16cm You may overlay both plots in the same graph. Make sure the plots are distinguishable from each other. ii. Report the stress concentration factor at the notches, as a ratio of the longitudinal strain at the notch and the nominal strain, based on the strain calculated using the 2cm gage length ( K 2cm ) iii.
