Scope: Chapters 13, 57, bits of 8,9 and some additional material
Theory: matrix calculus, linear subspaces, bases and dimension, linear independence,
orthogonality, determinants, eigenvalues, similarity
Applications: geometry, leastsquares approximation like polynomial fitting, correlation matrices
and statistics, principal component analysis of large data sets, solution and stability of dynamical
systems.
