JY, Short Story A Comparative Analysis of John Updike’s “A&P” and James Joyce’s “Araby” "Araby" and "A&P" are short stories, composed by James Joyce and John Updike individually. Notwithstanding the way that they were composed in various day and age, and in addition in various nations, they have numerous similitudes. These likenesses could be found in their primary characters, settings, and incongruities. The two stories are about juvenile young fellows, living exhausting lives, and who experience a major change by the end of the story while endeavoring to escape from their live substances. In the two stories, this change occurs while young men are endeavoring to draw in or satisfy a young lady who makes huge feelings within the principle characters, making them act. "Araby" and "A&P" are accounts of two young men making unfortunate endeavors to escape from exhausting lives, just represented in various ways. Both primary characters in A&P and Araby are juvenile adolescent young men who have a tall tale like dreams about young ladies, towards who they have extraordinary feelings. Them two long for that young ladies and manufacture their own picture of them in their heads. They both attempt to act impractically as the legends of sentimental motion pictures and ballads.
