PROJECT AMARI 1 Project Charter 1.1 Purpose The purpose of this project is to successfully renovate the house of Mr. and Mrs. Amari on 112 Dawes Road, Toronto, ON, M5B 5B6. It is expected to start on September 21st, 2017 and be completed by March 20th, 2018. Construction will be managed by ABC Construction. All materials and work done will be in accordance to the Ontario Building Code. The boundary of the project is limited to interior renovation. The business rationale behind the renovation project is to establish a suitable home for Mr. and Mrs. Amari. The current house on 112 Dawes Road has reached the end of its useful life and does not reflect the innovative and sustainable living style of the Amari family. The couple is relocating to Toronto from Japan, as Mrs. Amari will be taking responsibility for her company’s North American operations in 2018. The couple is scheduled to move into their new home during the first two weeks of April. By integrating information technology into the appliances of the house, the project will propel ABC Construction above its competitors. ABC Construction is expected to earn $250,000 in profit. 1.2 Objectives Mr. and Mrs. Amari want to incorporate Japanese energy conservation standards into their home in Toronto. Overall, the renovation project is to achieve the following three objectives: 1. Provide exceptional service and meet the needs of the Amari family 2. Rebuild electric lines within the house to allow a single energy management system 3. Redesign the windows to utilize natural lighting ABC Construction will be the first company in Ontario to build a “smart house” where energy consumption is improved by the application of information technology. All systems in the house will have the capability of communicating amongst each other, to ensure the home can be controlled efficiently through a single energy management system. The renovations will take advantage of the latest technology to lower energy consumption. In addition, state of the art fixtures and appliances will be installed to increase the value of the property on the real estate market.
