Laboratory Notes This LAB will require the student to create a peer connection to the Lab partner with Windows XP. You will be working in a group environment in which each person will be responsible for configuring the workstation. Cooperation is needed between group members to decide on global LAN settings. Initially, you will build a simple peer-to-peer network, and then reconfigure one of the workstations to provide access to the Internet for the other computer(s) on your network. Routers, by default, create an inside LAN network number of 192.168.0.1 and use a NAT to translate inside private IP numbers to a public ISP assigned IP number. Other OS’s, such as Windows7, may use IP block 192.168.137.X . Network traffic is moved from one network segment to another by using a default gateway . Look up the function of default gateway in the textbook. ICS is a function of the Microsoft Operating System. More details and information may be found in the textbook and on the following links: Windows XP including video: Vista/Win7: - Sharing Wikipedia:

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
