POLICE ENCOUNTER 2 Police Encounters with Suspect and Evidence Law enforcement officers are trusted to uphold the law and protect the citizens within their community. While they must abide by the laws just like any other individual in order to protect the people it is important, that they conduct themselves in a professional manner. According to Roberson & Wallace (2015), “reasonable suspicion is based on facts or circumstances which by themselves do not rise to give probable cause requisite to justify a lawful arrest, but which give rise to more than a bare suspicion, that is, a suspicion based on facts that would cause a reasonable person to conclude that criminal activity is ongoing or has occurred.” Officer Taylor was on night patrol when she noticed a vehicle that appeared what seen to be a broken tail light covered with colored tape it was then she instructed the driver to pull over. Officer Taylor showed demonstration of reasonable suspicion within the set of guidelines she must follow and a broken tail light is part of a traffic violation. After realizing the
