10/24 – Robin and Marian Movie Relationships in the Movie o Robin and Marian Robin went to the crusades Heat between them What’s in common besides sex? o Robin and Little John o Sheriff and Robin Worthy adversaries Leaves safe place to fight Sheriff When sherriff sees Robin he’s at home Conflight and not coupling is at the center of this film Look out for: o What is the most important relationship in film from point of view of the film? o What values and strengths are necessary to keep them going o What are people willing to die for? o What relationships are imporant to the people in the film? o Describe ways in which death is recorded. o Rotten Fruits – apples Notes on Movie : Fruits in beginning, some rotten Bird cawing with man with one eye Looking for a treasure in the castle (a rock) Burns castle down anyways for a stone Richard and Robin met 20 years before in Nottingham

300,000 men went to the holyland Robin judges Richard “Kings blood remember it” Richard and Little John are put in Jail Robin doesn’t know Richard anymore It’s okay if John dies because he’s seen the world Robin says he won’t go quietly “Clever fellow, death is” Richard says Robin is free of him Robin and John go home after Richard’s death Get home and they barely recognize it Thorns have grown and they barely recognize it Hunters attack them but are submissed Hunters turn out to be Turk and Will (Old Friends) Robin looks back on fighting the Sheriff as fun Fruit on the table when soldiers leave castle Marian is a nun at the abbey Sheriff is arresting Marian for staying with the Abbey Sheriff and Robin meet at the abbey and mock each other Robin and Sheriff are hostile friends Sheriff lets Robin go but says he’ll hunt him Robin has loyalty to his King, would do anything for him Marian loved Robin but can’t remember how it feels A man with one arm works in a field Robin a little in love with death

He flirts and teases Sheriff hesitant to kill (Robin runs free) Rescues Marian from the carriage in the water o Moment of Love again He has scars all over and Marian notices Marian tried to kill herself a while back Wants to live in the forest with Marian Marian looks in water for trace of herself o Fighting between old self and new self Asks if he wants her still o He kisses her Old man from city comes with village for Robin o Want to fight against the king Robin trains people to fight Little John uses nickname for him Says people are delerious pre-battle “Hardly I lost a battle but he’s barely won” Marian will do anything for Robin but mourn John eating fruit when watching the battle John says he’s nothing without Robin John said he wouldn’t have left Marian Lies to Robin about Marian Goes back to God when Robin leaves Robin leaves woods to fight Robin’s word is important to him
