Benedict Arnold is known as the biggest traitor in American History. Arnold wasn’t always a traitor, but something changed in him. He could have been one of the great leaders of our country, but that wasn’t enough for him. Benedict Arnold was born in Norwich, Connecticut on January 14, 1741 to parents Benedict Arnold, and Hannah Arnold. Arnold was named after his great grandfather Benedict Arnold, who in his early life was governor of the colony Rhode Island. He didn’t have an easy life with all of his siblings, but one, died of yellow fever. After his siblings died Arnolds father started drinking to the point where he was drunk every night. This kept Arnold from going to school, being trained in the family business, and not going to Yale College. This left Arnold miserable at a very young age. A few years later, Arnold was in charge of ships. While sailing, one day Arnold found himself in a duel in Honduras with a British sea captain. That was when Arnold first realized he wanted to be a part of The Revolutionary War. After that Arnold joined The Sons of Liberty and put his
