Date: September 4, 2018 Section: #4 Lab Partners: Gaston Garcia, Michaela Burton, Paul Konyrev Lab 1: Measurements, Error and Graphing Abstract In experiment one we used four different devices to calculate measurements of objects and find the density of Al. The purpose of this experiment was to introduce the concept of measurements, error, and graphing that we will use in future in experiments. We used a meter stick, vernier caliper, triple-beam balance, and graduated cup with water to calculate our measurements. Our data concluded that the density of the aluminum to be 2.79 g/cm 3 calculated from the slope of mass versus volume graph. Comparing the actual density of aluminum which is 2.70 g/cm 3 to our calculated density, our percent error was 3.3%. Data and Equations: Data: Table 1.
