Public Health 2 Introduction Public health consists of organized efforts to improve the health of communities. The operative components of this definition are that public health efforts are organized and directed to communities rather than to individuals. Public health practice does not rely on a specific body of knowledge and expertise but rather relies on a combination of science and social approaches. The essay will highlight several strategies, measures, approaches and organization to monitor and control health care and public organizations. The essay will also discuss Factors influencing health and wellbeing of people within health and social care and strategies that are developed to improve health and wellbeing of individuals. Task A 1.1 According to the World Health Organisation, the role of public health is very important as it protects the community from diseases and promotes the health and well-being of individuals. It also evaluates and observes the health of population and communities at risk. The public health organisation also contributes to describing national and local health issues and design policies that promote the health of people in the community. Three levels of disease in the community health agency are identified. These agencies include international level, national and local level. “CCG of Health and Wellbeing and Department of Health” is a local level agency, World Health Organization (WHO) is an international level authority and “Public Health” is working at national level in the United Kingdom.
Public Health 3 Role of WHO World Health Organisation (WHO) is a global agency of promoting the health of people. It does not give direct services to the people but provides aid to private organisations that also work for promoting the health of people. It is believed that WHO become more active at the time natural disasters, calamities and epidemic of specific disease. They try their best to produce the best investigation to recognise potential health care issues and diseases persevering in the community. For this purpose, they develop health care centres and research laboratories at the national and provincial level and develops a network to work efficiently. “Community health centre services” in the United Kingdom is working with the above purpose to investigate the level of diseases and health and find their possible causes (Anderson, 2013, p. 117) Role of DH They advise and support the policy makers in shaping and delivering policies in order to meet the objectives of government. Secondly, it anticipate the future and lead debate making sure they improve and protect people health. They also provides support in innovation and research in order to increase economic and health productivity (Efstathiou et al., 2010, p. 112).
