IPv6 TRANSITION CHALLENGES 2 Challenges of Transiting to IPv6 and its Effect on Cloud Computing IPv6 refers to the Internet Protocol version 6. It is the newest technology, departure from IPv4 and most countries are gearing up to adopt it due to the advantage that it has of accommodating many devices connected to the internet. Such devices include phones, PCs and laptops. The transition was greatly influenced by the demand for space which had become so limited on the IPV4 ( Levin & Schmidt, 2014) . However, the change has not been easy without hurdles. This paper will address the challenges involved in the adaption of IPv6 and also give a personal view of what I think will be the effect of this transition on cloud computing. The first challenge in the transition to IPv6 is the security concerns that it raises. A general assumption being made in the process of transitioning to IPv6 is that the IPv6 is more secure than IPv4. The premise holds ground as many IT personnel hold the view that the protocol’s
