Stress increases secretion of corticosteroids and this suppresses the immune system. 5. There are four gene codes for histocompatibility antigens. a. A, B, C, D on chromosome 6 and many alleles for each gene b. Histocompatibility antigens are found on all cells except red blood cells 6. Classes of MHC molecules (MHC= major compatibility complex) a. Class 1 MHC-found on all cells except red blood cells i. Interact with killer T lymphocytes b. Class 2 MHC-found only on macrophages and B lymphocytes i. Interact with helper T lymphocytes 7. Disorders of the immune system a. Autoimmune Diseases i. Failure to recognize and tolerate self-antigens b. Immune Complex Diseases
