Call of Children: Committing Violence
Do violent video games influence people to commit violent acts in the real world? My
position is that violent video games are not the cause of people’s violent acts towards others. I
have been playing video games since I was nine years old. At least 99% of the games I played
were violent. Violent video games that I still play are Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Assassin’s
Creed, Grand Theft Auto five, and Dead by Daylight. Even my number one favorite game, “The
Last of Us” is considered a very violent game. However, the reason why it is my favorite game
has nothing to do with the level of violence. Call of Duty last year released a new Call of Duty
game taking place in World War II. The game takes the player into the bloodiest battles during
the war. The player starts off on a boat heading to Omaha Beach and watches as the ramps
swings down. The player watches as the soldiers around him get annihilated by machine gun
bullets tearing limbs apart and blood squirting all over the screen. I have been playing Grand
Theft Auto five for three years now and it’s always violent. My buddies and I would join a server
and we start killing each other or the computer-generated citizens in the game. Sometimes we
would rob stores and get chased down by the cops. We would also run over people and cause
massive destruction all over the map by blowing up everything in sight. Dead by Daylight came
out a couple of months ago and the whole point of the game is to escape from a killer. In the
game the player is a survivor and his main job is to repair five generators and then escape

through a huge door. The killers job is to search for survivors and hook them to a post while
getting stabbed by a black, crab like entity. To escape the hook, other survivors must rescue you.
The game gets violent when the killer hits you with its weapon and you start bleeding leaving a
blood trail. Sometimes the killer could kill you. The way he would kill you is very brutal. One
way is that he stabs his claws through your body and it comes out the other side. Violent video
games do not cause people to act violent towards others, but help us release stress, lower juvenile
crime, and makes us more sensitive.
Violent video games do not influence people to be violent because they help people let
out their anger and stress in video games. Everyone in this world gets angry and needs a way to
let it out. One way is that people play violent video games, so they can release that anger by
shooting, stabbing, and blowing up someone in the virtual world. A study done by the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine named “Personality, Psychopathology, and Developmental Issues
in Male Adolescents Video Game Use,” found that ‘“found that arcade games have a "calming
effect" and that boys use them to blow off steam”’ (qtd. Karin par.16). Ironically, violent video
games help in preventing more juvenile crimes. How do violent video games prevent juvenile
