FUTURE OF UNIONS 2I agree that based on the recent social and economic trends, it can be argued that unions are a relic of the past, an anachronism that no longer has any place in the changing workplace of the 2000’s. this has been attributed to the unions sticking to the old structures that established while the changing social and economic trends clearly indicate that the playing field has changedand but the unions have remained with their old repertoire (Vance & Paik, 2015). Additionally, the unions have neglected other group of workers that would have increased their member base such as the increasing self-employment workers, temporary workers (those outside the payroll scheme) and disabled persons. This has led to the other workers who are members questioning itsrelevancy. Moreover, the unions also have stuck with the traditional “socialist structures” where
