I agree that gastroenteritis could be the differential diagnosis for HL, but HL did not present with a fever, muscle aches, or headache that we know of which are commonly exhibited symptoms in viral gastroenteritis (stomach flu). Also, there was no indication of abdominal pain which can frequently be associated with n/v/d. I further agree on the basis that HL has a history of drug abuse, which could lead to illicit behavior such as sharing eating utensils with infected persons, eating out of garbage containers (contaminated food or water). Viral gastroenteritis can occur in any age group, race, and culture
