Millions of people share the same scene every day. They are in a classroom full of students with a teacher in the font giving instructions. This scene would be interpreted very differently by Rogers and Skinner. I feel they would have very differing opinions on the characteristics of the environment of our CI 204 class. One of Carl Rogers’s beliefs is that a child should learn at his/her own pace. Rogers called this type of learning “self initiated involvement.” Rogers would observe and appreciate how much freedom is given to the students. For example, the freedom to come to class, or stay at home and sleep, the freedom to read the assigned reading for the day or not, and the freedom to work on you midterm with another person or to do it by yourself. Rogers would observe and appreciate this because he believes that the desire to learn comes from within the student and is not influenced by an outside force, like a teacher. Rogers would also focus on the teacher to student interaction and classroom openness because his whole philosophy of learning is based on student based learning theories. He sees the perfect classroom as the one where the teacher is the facilitator. The teacher encourages the students to think about the material and learn the material in a
