I enjoyed reading your post and completely agree with your statement: It is a quality that individuals are born with and it can be developed or concealed. Leadership skills become better over time. Leadership can also be broken down into stages starting with technical expertise. As one becomes more familiar with the hands on portion of their job they develop more insight and will often move into the operational, or administrative portion. Leadership is no different than any other skill. It can be taught and improved upon through consistency and practice. Of course I agree it is more natural for some people to lead than others. Introverts for example, prefer to be in the background. However, in some cases they are required to step out of their comfort zone and can learn the skillsets necessary to be effective leaders. Good post. I think people who have the ability to be good leaders/managers and maintain good working relationships or as you stated friendships, have a special skill.
