Society refers to a group of people, interacting within a given territory, who are guided in their daily lives by their culture. - Cultural Diversity Around the World There are times when cultural diversity is good for society, as well as times when it seems to work against “the grain - The roles of symbols, language and values in a culture Symbol: something to which people attach meaning and then use to communicate with one another. Gestures: the way in which people use their bodies to communicate with one another. Language: a system of symbols that can be combined in an infinite number of ways and can represent not only objects but also abstract thought.
