AMERICA HEALTH CARE ACT OF 2017 2 The American Health Care Act of 2017 is a United States Congress bill which aims to partially repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act which is usually referred to as the Obamacare. As a health care policy lobbyist, I strongly oppose the bill because of the following reasons: The bill will have numerous catastrophic effects on individuals, families, the elderly, children and people with disabilities among others who are dependent on the hospitals for care. Again, the bill is projected to have an effect of leaving more than 23 million people in America being without any form of access to any affordable healthcare services, and many of these people will be from our state ( Obama, 2017). Without the necessary coverage, many of these people will suffer as they will be left without the necessary healthcare services that will enable them to lead their productive lives. Another negative effect of the bill is that many members of the communities might lose their jobs because of the reduction in capital that the hospitals and other health care facilities will face ( Glied & Jackson, 2017). Besides, many of the people who will lose jobs will be from this state, and this could see the unemployment levels raising to significant levels.
AMERICA HEALTH CARE ACT OF 2017 3 The loss of employment opportunities will also have a ripple effect on the entire community of our state, and this might include the local economy being affected in devastating ways that might last for years to come. My hope is that as our representative in the US Congress, you will strongly oppose the bill for the sake of the long-term durability to ensure that our patients continue to have access to affordable care and that the community will continue to thrive. The members of our community deserve to have quality and affordable healthcare and this bill that is under consideration could have negative effects that may be irreversible for years to come.
