Professor Juarez ENGWR300 6 February 2014 RRR#3 Amy Tan is an American writer who was born in 1952. She has wrote many books including a best selling novel The Joy Luck Club, and was a published author before she was 10 years old. She talks about her mother and some of the experiences with her, especially about her “Mothers Tongue”. Her family had immigrated from China, they came to California and that's where Amy was born and raised. Amy always looked up to her mom, and the way that her mother talked shaped the way that she saw the world (96). Her mothers broken English is what she grew up with, its what she knew. It sounded perfectly clear to her because she knows her mom, she knows what she is saying even when she isn't very clear. My dads new family is Filipino, and not all of them have the heavy accent. My dads wife was born in Los Angeles but her parents are all from the Philippines. My dads wife, , can speak perfect English, but she still says things sometimes with that accent.
