BEST AND WORST TRAINING EXPERIENCES2Training is a process whereby new skills, knowledge, information, and techniques are provided to a given group of people which they can apply in performing a given task. Training isa critical tool in any organization. A useful training activity presents an opportunity to expand theknowledge and skills of all employees in an organization. Besides, there are many categories of training employed in business at different levels like the management and the employee level. Allthese are equally important to an organization. Some of the benefits of training include improvedemployee performance, increase in employee satisfaction and morale, reduced employee turnover, increase in productivity, and also maintaining employee consistent experience and knowledge. To achieve these benefits, the organization has to ensure it provides effective training programs for their employees since the outcomes of training depend on the delivery techniques used to transfer skills or information to the audience. There are various methods utilized in training. They include simulations, discussions, lectures, and on-the job training methods (Silberman & Biech, 2015). Besides, one should have different strategies to use in training to ensure effective transfer and acquisition of the knowledge or skills taught. Some of them include asking questions to attract the attention of the audience. Also, the training should have certain essential elements which include measurable learning outcomes, instructional strategies, employee or trainee evaluation procedures, and applications of the skills and information taught. Therefore, when designing a training activity, one has to ensure it comprises the effective training techniques which provide a positive outcome. This essay aims to provide analysis of the good and bad training experiences that I have encountered in my career by focusing on the training methods, the learning theories, the training objectives, and the outcomes of the training.
BEST AND WORST TRAINING EXPERIENCES3I have participated in various types of training in my professional career. Some of the practices turn out to be very successful and productive while others achieve fewer objectives as expected. There are various reasons for these different outcomes. Most of those training programs fail due to poor planning, use inappropriate training methods and instructional strategies, or it can also be due to lack of clear training objectives. On the other hand, for the successful training program, trainers put into consideration most elements of training hence making it practical.
